Deep Immersion Program and Schedule

Saturday January 29, 2011 - Sunday November 20, 2011

(Teacher Trainees must do this entire program to qualify for certificate.)

This program can be done as a personal journey or you can work toward your teacher certificate.
You can involve yourself in parts of the program or do it all whether you want to be a teacher or not.

10 month program

The program consists of one weekend per month for the bulk of the program as a group. The rest of the program involves self-study: some reading and assignments, attending asana classes and seeing the director for private sessions twice per month. You can choose to what degree you would like to be involved. (breakdown of program and fees see below) Please come in to speak with Christine about how you can get involved. This program poetentially leads to a teacher certificate recognized by the CYA. Please talk to the director of the program.

Breakdown of Program Weekend:

Practice, Practice, Practice (practice) – Fridays 12:00pm – 2:00pm
Friday from February on: 12noon – 2pm self-practice/full series class (twice a month)

This class is a self-practice (sometimes led) session so that the student may develop and discover the asana (postures) in their own way. Monitored and mentored by the studio director and owner. (This part of the program will begin with the Ashtanga Vinyasa practice and then branch out into other styles.)

Saturday from February on: 10am – 5pm;
Going Deep (technique) - Saturdays 10:00am – 1:00pm
Saturday 10am – 11am pranayama, chanting, dristi, bandha; 11 – 1pm asana workshop (Yoga U)

This portion of the Saturday class is devoted to discussion and investigation of practice: exploring the physical manifestation of asana, the tones of chanting, technique of Pranayama, and other important aspects of practice.

The weekend in June there is a mandatory residential overnight stay. Program and details to be announced.

Living Yoga (philosophy) – Saturdays at 2:00pm – 5:00pm
2pm – 5pm philosophy including teacher prep and feedback. (once a month)

This class explores some of the different aspects of philosophy, on being a student/teacher, and what is yoga. There will be reporting and group discussions about assignments, the ethics of yoga, study of the Ashtanga system etc., the nature of our true selves, and practicing teaching (includes learning techniques of hands-on adjustments, etc.)

Going Deeper – Sundays 7:00pm – 8:30pm
Sunday from February on: 7pm – 8:30pm meditation (once a month)

Developing an open and deep relationship to our Divine selves.

*If there are any conflicts we can discuss them at Orientation.

Breakdown of fees for Program for all 10 months (INCLUDES HST): 

• Friday self-practice classes – total  $350 (incl. hst)

• Saturday morning classes ----------  $275 (incl. hst)
• Saturday workshops (Yoga U) ------ $425 (incl. hst)
• Saturday philosophy, etc. classes -  $650 (incl. hst)
                      Saturday total:------$1350 (incl. hst)

• Sunday meditation classes - $200 (incl. hst)

      Full Weekend Program (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) All together due: $1900 (incl. hst)

Other Mandatory Requirements (Must be fulfilled at the SB studio):
• Wednesday evenings 6:45 Ashtanga Full Series led class
2 other classes per week for 9 months
2 Private Sessions per month (7 weeks off in Summer)

• Full Program: weekends (10), All classes for 9 months (mandatory) and 2 Private sessions per month (mandatory, with 7 weeks off between July and August ) due: $4500 (includes hst)

Full or half payment excepted on day of orientation January 29th.
Payment schedule available. If you have not discussed your program with the Director in depth, please make an appointment before the orientation day.

Payment non-refundable after course has started.
